133 and counting
That's how many chicks have hatched already this morning. Last night I was moving empty boxes to pack dried lavender when I heard an alarm in the office. The hatching case was too hot. I immediately opened the door to cool them down. During the day heat had built up in the office. These are tough chicks and we only lost one out of 133. We have now turned on the office air conditioning to keep the room at 80F. The ideal temperature for incubating and hatching is 100F which is easy for the machines to maintain in the office.
Those of you coming to the solstice party this weekend will be able to visit with the newly hatched chicks.
